If you have a product you’re looking to advertise, or you’re a service business looking to reach more customers, one of the best ways to do that is with video!
That could be a product video that you distribute through social media, or it could be a larger marketing campaign that includes video production to be done for your website and other channels. Regardless, video is an incredible way to market your products and services.
When you go to look for a video production company to work with, there can be many aspects to consider before choosing a company to partner with. Is their work great? Have they worked with other clients in your industry? How long have they been in business? Do they seem experienced and confident in taking on your project? Can they meet your deadline and any other expectations? You might have a lot of questions, and that’s a good thing!
You want to make sure you’re happy with the final video or videos when it’s all done, so you should consider many questions. Being a video production company that’s been in business over 5 years now, we have some experience and want to share 3 things to look out for.
NUMBER 1 – THE WORK
This video is going to represent your brand, so it’s very important that the work is high-quality, professional, and fits the vision you’re looking for. You don’t want to sacrifice quality because someone is inexpensive, and then end up being really unhappy with your video. Then it’s just a lose-lose situation. Here’s a few examples of high-quality work that your brand could be proud of:
NUMBER 2 – THE PROCESS / TIMELINE
Does your video project have a deadline? Do you need to start this project next week, or in 3 months? How much will they expect from you throughout the process? These are important questions to ask. If your project needs to be done in the next 3 weeks, can they get it done in time? If their normal timeline is 2-3 months for example, can you wait that long?
Knowing what their normal timeline is for a creative project like yours is essential, and every video production agency is different, you want to be sure that your timeline and theirs are aligned.
Additionally, you should know how much time and effort will be required from you on this project, just so you can be prepared.
NUMBER 3 – COLLABORATION
Working alongside a production company on a project should be a collaborative and enjoyable process, so it’s important to know if that will be the case. While talking with different companies, your initial meetings or phone calls should be great experiences. Does this company seem interested in your project? Are they friendly? Do they seem receptive to feedback? Enjoying the process of making this video will be more important than you might think for the entire experience.
Producing a video for your brand will likely take some brainstorming and involvement from your team, so you should be able to get along with them. This will make for a smoother production and an overall excellent experience for both parties.
