Looking for a trusted video production company in Boston or Rhode Island? This article will help you in choosing the right partner to best suit your needs; from quality to expertise, budget, and more.
Research and Make A List.
The first step is to put together a list of reputable video production companies in your area. Do some research and pay attention to the companies that have great work and great reviews. Look at their portfolio and see if they have worked in your industry before. See what their past customers have said, look at what their strengths seem to be. Think about the style or styles of video you are in the market for when you’re doing your research. Do their services and work seem to line up with what you’re looking for? Going in with a clear (or mostly clear) idea of the work you’re looking for will help you in narrowing down the list of companies to pick from.
And if you have questions, that’s okay too! Coming from a production company, we truly enjoy helping clients figure out what they’re looking for or narrow their vision, because let’s face it; sometimes there might be more than one idea or there may be multiple people involved, each with different thoughts.
Compare Client Reviews and Testimonials.
There are probably 50-100 video production companies or video production freelancers in your region, so it can be overwhelming when you start searching. A big part of narrowing down the list can be done by looking at their past reviews on Google and other sites. Google reviews are a great first step, because those will show you real words from previous customers, with timelines. This will help you see various reviews over time, not just their best reviews or most recent.
Pay attention to what customers have written, do they compliment their communication or their quality? See what they comment on most, and think about what’s important to you in what you’re looking for. If you have a project that needs to get done quick, keep an eye out for any reviews that talk about their turnaround time or how they’ve handled the timeline in general. Is the quality of your project very important? Then look out for any reviews that discuss the quality of the video and how satisfied they were.
It can also help to check out their social media channels and look for comments on their posts. Are they positive comments? Does the company respond to them? Looking at their social media might also give you a sneak peek into their company; the people, other work they do, what the culture is like, etc. This can be helpful too, because you might find that you’re learning more about their employees and what the people in the company are actually like.
Have a Clear Understanding Of Your Budget.
Or at least try to have a range that you might be comfortable spending! This only serves to help you narrow down your selection of companies, but also to figure out what you can actually get from a production company you choose to work with. I know what you’re thinking “well if I tell them our budget is $8,000 they’re just going to say the video will cost $8,000” but in reality that’s not how it works. When we’re on a call with a business that’s interested in working with us, the reason we ask for a budget is because projects come in all different sizes and costs, and we understand that. For us, we want to know a budget because it can help us in determining how much work we can put into your project. We like to give people options, and if your budget is flexible then we can afford to go the extra mile with your project, for example hiring actors, hair + makeup, and/or renting locations. But if not, that’s totally fine too and we can come up with a solution that doesn’t involve those extra costs.
As with most things in life, you get what you pay for, and at the end of the day there are hundreds of people out there who can potentially edit video. But that doesn’t mean they all do high quality work. This video will be a representation of your business and you don’t want to just go with the cheapest price. To ensure you receive a high level of service and are working with a group that’s experienced and talented, it will only benefit you to not just ‘price shop.’
Finding the right company to work with will take time, and you don’t want to rush this decision and end up regretting it when you’re unhappy with the final product in the end. If you’re considering working with us for your project, we would love to hear from you! We’ve worked with dozens of brands producing video for numerous use cases and we would be happy to …..
